In 2011, the Phoenix became Sherbrooke’s third attempt at a QMJHL team when the Lewiston Maineiacs returned after the Castors departed to the US in 2003. This franchise can trace its roots back to the Trois-Rivieres Ducs who were a charter member of the QMJHL in 1969. The Ducs changed their name to the Draveurs in 1973 and had a lot of success in the early 1980s. The team eventually moved to Sherbrooke in 1992 changing their name to the Faucons before adopting the more traditional Castors moniker in 1998. The original Sherbrooke Castors are now the Rimouski Oceanic. Pictured is a game puck from the Duc’s 1969 season along with a current Phoenix puck.
